Alexander has over twenty five years of combined experience in management of investment companies, telecom and IT projects on major international markets, holds MSc in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Economics.
Alexander Turkot began his career as a software engineer in the mid-1980s in the former USSR. In 1990–1998 he worked in various IBM structures as a technical project leader and later as a senior project manager and strategic adviser in many large IT projects for a number of FORTUNE-500 companies all over the world.
In 2010-2012 Mr. Turkot works for Skolkovo Foundation as an Executive Director of IT Cluster, being responsible for initiation and expertise of the incoming IT-projects. During a very short time, Mr. Turkot assembled a professional team that was able to generate a stable pipeline of incoming projects. From November 2010 to June 2012 IT cluster funded over 50 projects, committing the sum of $ 42 million for the next 3 years.
In 2013, Mr. Turkot founded Maxfield Capital Partners, a $100mln. VC firm with focus on early stage IT- and internet projects.
Mr. Turkot is a recognized expert on the field of IT-investments, and a frequent speaker at industry conferences around the world. As part of his investment activities, he is a member of Russian Government Experts Council, member of investment committee for the Microsoft Seed Fund, member of the selection committee of the CISCO «I-Prize» competition, Intel’s “Compute Continuum” contest, «Seed Money" competition on TV "Rain" and many others.
