David joined Mangrove Capital Partners in 2006 and became a Partner in the firm in 2011. Open- minded and curious by nature he enjoys travelling and discovering different cultures, which makes him keen on developing business connections in new and sometimes untapped geographies.
On behalf of Mangrove, David spends significant time in Eastern Europe to scout for the successes of tomorrow and to help Mangrove portfolio companies there. Back in 2006, he pioneered early-stage investment from Western VCs in Russia. In 6 years, he established Mangrove as the reference partner for Russia-based entrepreneurs and a recognized expert of the local Internet ecosystem for other investors.
David’s sectors of interests revolve around consumer Internet and e-commerce while trying to be involved with founders who are passionate about their business and whose personality traits combine creativity, humility and ambition. He currently serves on the boards of KupiVIP, Oktogo and Zesty.
David started his career at Monsanto, a multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation. After that, he was a consultant, successively at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young, where he led the Supply Chain and Logistics business consulting practice. Before joining Mangrove, he managed operations for 2 years at Lumension, one of Mangrove portfolio companies.
David has a passion for adventurous travelling in remote and weird areas of the globe, where he can get close to local wildlife and culture and enjoy photography, one of his favorite hobbies. He also plays the piano and keyboards improvising songs with friends.
David holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nautical Sciences from the Antwerp Maritime Academy and a Master in International Business and Management with high honors from the ICHEC Brussels Management School. A Belgian national, he speaks French, English, Dutch and German.
