Self-confessed IT geek Gareth Williams is the CEO of Skyscanner.
Skyscanner was born from a personal frustration of how difficult it was to search for and compare flight prices on the web. Starting with an excel spreadsheet of destinations and prices, Skyscanner began as an underground project which grew by word of mouth. As hits to the website rose exponentially, the three co-founders gave up their day jobs, putting their own money into the start-up and launching the site officially in 2003.
Skyscanner is a global brand, having its head office in Edinburgh where Gareth lives with his two children, and also has offices in Singapore and Beijing.
